Abandoned during the post-war decades, the village was rediscovered in the 1960s by curious creatives and intellectuals from Northern Europe, drawn by its timeless beauty and the promise of a different way of life.

 

Through intimate conversations with both villagers and newcomers, the film uncovers the subtle tensions that arise when contrasting cultures, memories, and visions for the future converge. Beneath the idyllic landscape lies a complex story about identity, belonging, power, and cultural ownership.

 

Far beyond this single village, the documentary reflects the profound transition of rural Europe, where depopulation, migration, and new forms of settlement are reshaping communities.
